DIY: I Spy Ornaments

These are just the cutest things ever…

I wish I could say I made these little I Spy Ornaments, but I gotta give credit where it is due…

After the kids Christmas play, their grandmother {a.k.a. Nonna} surprised them with these Christmas ornaments she had crafted for the kids.  You might remember earlier in the year we made our own I Spy Bottles.  It was super fun, so I was not surprised when the kids went nuts over these ornaments.   The kids haven’t been able to put them down, especially JoJo!  We have had the best fun flipping and turning, searching for the little treasures.

If you would like to make one of these for yourself or to share with a special little person…

You are gonna need…

  • Clear glass or plastic ball ornaments from  your local craft store {I would suggest plastic over glass!}.  Look for the larger balls or atleast be aware of the size of the opening at the top.  You want to make sure that your little treasures will fit in the opening of the ornament.
  • Choose little trinkets and treasures to place in the ornament.  I would suggest looking near the miniature trees and the decorations made for these smaller trees.  Nonna choose some of these ornaments {candy canes, Santa boots, toy boxes, teddy bears, candy, Christmas lights…} and just snipped the string off of the tops of the mini-ornaments.   She placed about 8-12 little trinkets in each ornament.
  • Next, fill the ornament up 3/4 full of Epsom salt.
  • Secure the top of the ornament with hot glue or craft glue.
  • Finish off with a pretty Christmas ribbon.

And there you go!  A Christmas craft/ornament/game all-in-one!

Thanks Nonna!
