Thy Kingdom Come

Over the past few weeks my church (Northeast Christian Church) has been in a  sermon series called “Kingdom Come”.

Essentially the gist was really understanding the meaning of the first few lines in The Lord’s Prayer.   We keyed in on “Thy Kingdom Come”.

Generally we graze over this part and recite it without stopping to realize the magnitude of this very line:  “Thy Kingdom Come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven”.  What we are praying for when we say this part of the prayer is bringing up there, down here.  Bring Your Kingdom, Your will to the very spot right here where I am praying.  Let Your will be done here, right here, as it is in heaven.  God is giving us a chance to join Him by praying to bring His kingdom, His will down to us.   A way of us doing this is by being salt and light.  The book of Matthew explains this best:

Matthew 5:13-16 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.  You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

To join our heavenly Father, becoming partners, bringing His Kingdom down here by being Salt and Light!

When the pastor put this verse up I nearly killed over!  I just kept thinking that this wasn’t an accident!  Our verse, our “Radiant” shirt….shining our light before others to help make a difference right here! Bringing His Kingdom down to anyone willing to wear His word!

We have shared with you all that Missions are dear to our hearts and how we have felt led to donate profits from our shirts to the missions we have chosen.    This is the very reason why we wanted to start this little venture.  To be able to help where we felt we were being led to. To bring His Kingdom not only to the people wearing His Word, and sharing His word, but also bringing Light to those in need!  Next week we will be sharing our missions with you all and explaining a little about each one of them.

Today however, I would like to challenge each of you to take the “Kingdom Come” challenge.  We did this as a church and I think it is so awesome!  Pick seven places that you visit this week and pray a prayer of bringing God’s Kingdom from up there to down here in the very spot where you stand!  Our church tracked the status of this and it was amazing to see the pings all over the map….all over the United States and all over the World!!!  Here is a picture of the map just a day after the sermon

If you are feeling led to share the Light of God’s Kingdom then here are a few guidelines that can help you get started.  These were given to us by our pastor:

  1. Choose (choose something that you are being pulled to)
  2. Commit (commit to being open and get the ball rolling)
  3. Show up (prepare to be present, this could be physically or mentally)
  4. Invest (pray and submerge yourself)

I know Natalie, Emily and I are so very excited to see what doors will open by bringing God’s Kingdom down here!  What lives will be touched, what kind of a difference will be made!  You can never go wrong by choosing God’s love to share!

Joy
