Just in time for the Fourth of July celebration…

I scream, YOU scream, we all SCREAM  for Ice~Cream!   Yoohooooo!   And not just any ole’ ice~cream, but something my kids just LOVE… GRAPICO ice~cream!  Yahhhhhh!  GRAPICO ICE~CREAM!  Am I getting you guys excited or what?!

Okay, so here’s the story…  my sweet father-n-law, a.k.a. Papa Mike started making this Grapico concoction for a group of pilot’s that met every Thursday night in a friends hanger.  It  was a time him and his buddies got together to talk shop, brag a little about their airplanes and really just have some good ole’ grub!   Every week, Papa Mike mixed up his concoction of Grapico Ice~Cream and everyone LOVED it!

Almost ten years later he is still whipping up this ice~cream, but for a different group of folks…  a little younger and probably a little cuter!  My kids LOVE this ice~cream {especiallyEmma Mae}.  I don’t know if it’s the cool purple color or just the fact that it really taste  YUMMY!  Either way, it is now a staple at any back~yard, under~the~porch, at~the~river, who~needs~a~reason CELEBRATION!

So, I had to share with you this really fun and SUPER simple recipe for Grapico Ic~Cream JUST in time for The FOURTH of JULY Celebration!  Hope you all have a groovy weekend and take a minute to reflect on our freedom… that which so many were so brave to sacrifice so much to obtain AND for that TRUE freedom that come with the greatest sacrifice!

 GRAPICO Ice~Cream

1 ~ 2 liter bottle of Grapico

1 ~ 14oz. can Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk

ice~cream salt

ice~cream maker

This works best using a 2 liter bottle of REFRIGERATED Grapico!  So, pour your whole bottle of Grapico into ice~cream maker along with your sweetend condensed milk.  Stir well until blended.  {don’t count on the ice~cream maker to do all the mixing}  Next, place the ice and salt around container and proceed with ice~cream maker instructions.  {usually just plugging into outlet!}  When the Grapico is chilled really well it usually takes about 20-25 minutes to make ice~cream.  It could take a bit longer if it has not been previously chilled!

So, there you go…   Leave me a comment and let me know what you guys think about the recipe!  Thanks!  ENJOY and have a wonderful Fourth of July!

Freedom Love,

~ Natalie

Would this work with the countertop ice cream maker?

This works with a 5 quart or 6 quart freezer. 6 quart just makes a little less. Haven’t tried adding extra to 6 quart to fill to fill line, anybody out there try it and let us know.

My parents are here visiting and we made homemade ice cream last night. I think I just found a reason to plug the ice cream maker back in again tonight!!!!

I was searching for the Grapico ice cream recipe my oldest and dearest friend and I used to make 30 years ago when I ran across your blog.

You two ladies remind me so of us. She died this past October. We had been friends for 29 years.

When our 3 boys were like stairsteps we would have cookouts followed by a treat; Grapico ice cream. What a precious memory.

I no longer live there, but Alabama is my home and was hers. She was the sister I never had.

May the Lord keep you both in the palm of His mighty right hand.

P.S Thanks for the recipe as well.

Thx for the reminder. I used to make this with orange soda and crushed pineapple years ago, but I’m sure grape is wonderful since I love grape soda.. My ice cream freezer long ago went the way of all the earth, so now a new one is on my “To Buy” list. I bet other soda flavors would be good as well. Thx for the recipe and the memories. Summer and Grapico, here I come!
