I remember the first time I read about Mrs. Ree Drummond, it was on the pages of my coveted Southern Living.  It was the November 2009  issue and … well… I just fell in love!  She is just the grooviest lady.  I don’t know if it was the picture of her man at the head of the table, that she reminded me of another red-headed beauty from long ago or the story of her doing what only mommas do, bravely protecting her baby in a pit.  Whatever it was, she got me!  I guess you could say, we connected! {lol}  I mean, we just had SOOOOO much in common!  She lives in Oklahoma… I’ve driven through parts of the place.  She’s got red hair… I’ve bought boxes of it! (but only when I’m feeling sassy and it’s quicker and healthier than a tan)  She’s got a great blog…  HELLO!  You’re reading it! {I know, that was a lot of confidence for me, but I’ve been praying to be BOLD}.  She loves to cook… I’ve got a little confidence in the kitchen.  She’s got animals… I got goats!   She’s got a cowboy… I gotta cowboy! {and you oughta see him in leather!}.  She’s got great kids… I’ve got AMAZING kids!  I mean, I could go on!  It’s just destiny that our paths eventually cross!  But, until then… I’ll just enjoy her humor, good recipes and stories from the ranch.

So, at the beginning of the summer, I came across her favorite restaurant salsa recipe.  I LOVE fresh salsa and I thought I would give it a try!  IT.  IS.  DELICIOUS.  I scoop it up with Tostitos Multi Grain Chips and man it’sYUMMY!   So, giving credit where credit is due… http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2010/01/restaurant-style-salsa/

Basically, it’s everything in the picture below (plus a clove of garlic that I forgot to photograph~sorry) and of course salt and pepper to taste {I don’t have pretty salt and pepper shakers}.  I tend to add a little salsa to my salt.  I kinda like sodium.  I know, it’s not good.  Which reminds me… have I told you about Crazy Jane’s Mixed-Up Salt?!?!  I lick my finger and shake the bottle over it and lick, and repeat!  It is so good!  I’ve been meaning to share with you all about this fabulous find.  I shared a bottle with Joy to let  her in on all the goodness.  I had big plans of sharing it with you {GIVEAWAY}, but my supplier has a big sign on their window that says, “NOT YET”.  And so, that’s a story for another day!

Back to the salsa… it’s good and so easy to make!  It doesn’t last very long at my house!  Let me know what you guys think!  I am eating so much of this stuff, I went and planted all the ingredients! {minus the salt and pepper and lime}

Sorry, about the random post… Speaking for both us, I don’t know if it’s the heat, the house, the kids or the dogs.  But, it gets a little crazy around here!  Bare with us, we have loved sharing our lives with you guys!  Hope you are enjoying it as much as we are!

Over and out,

Natalie
